Spa Castle Queens

In any season, Spa Castle in College Point Queens is a win. You can spend three hours or an entire day. It is a family friendly experience with plenty of indoor and outdoor hot tubs, saunas, and inviting, slightly cheesy decor (think Greek hotel lobby plus Korean amenities).

You can wander freely and try everything or just opt for a long nap on a cushy chair. There are plenty of options for food and snacks. You can pay for massages and other services, but we’ve never needed to. Just go.

Baths

The first floor has gender-separated locker rooms and a series of hot tubs and saunas. Nudity is optional here, and I can’t think of a better way for your kids to learn about real bodies than getting glimpses of them in Spa Castle… it’s oddly affirming.

Do not miss taking a shower here. You can control the water temp, the pressure is strong… it feels great.

Sauna Valley

This bright, airy floor features a Sauna Valley of huts with different themes (color therapy, gold walls, salt bricks…). Your family can move through the huts, lie flat on tatami mats, and smile at each other in the mirrored ceilings. Total fun.

This floor also has a big lounge for lunch, coffee or even board games that you can borrow.

Outdoor All-Weather Pool

The top floor is literally a giant outdoor heated pool with a variety of massage jets and hot tubs. This picture doesn’t do it justice — it’s twice the size and the jets kick off a ton of water. It is a dream in any weather; we were there recently in 23 degrees and lasted nearly an hour outside.

Logistics:

  • Spa Castle, College Point, Queens

  • It’s easiest to get there by car. We always find street parking nearby, but there is a valet.

  • Bring a swimsuit. They provide everything else (robe, slippers, towel, locker, shampoo, conditioner, body wash).

  • There is a bar for adults, with a hot tub, but that’s the only spot in the whole place that gives an ick vibe. I’d drink when you’re back home feeling awesome.

  • Check the site for admission. It’s gotten pricier over the years, but there are discounts (we got a half-price gift certificate on Black Friday).
